One of many West Coast jewels. The village of Plockton on the Am Ploc peninsula in Loch Carron, Wester Ross, Scotland.

Commentary.

Sheltered by its headland, Plockton, east-facing, enjoys a calm bay that frequently moors yachts on West Coast cruises.

Bed and Breakfast establishments, camping sites, hotels

and boarding houses cater for a growing number of tourists.

A quality of this place, soon discovered by visitors, is that

sunrises are spectacular.

A short evening stroll can take you to one of several “coral” (maerl) beaches to enjoy a sunset over the Cuillins of Skye.

Boat-trips abound, and small though it be, this headland has many surprises and much to savour.

There are many jewels on this western seaboard.

This one is pure and clean-cut.
