Winds of Change
Prior to 2020, most Reading & Northern fall Foliage trains would run with a pair of the roads striking SD40-2s, or on select weekends 4-6-2 no. 425. However with the addition of T-1 no. 2102 coming back to life, and the purchase of new diesel power, the 2022 fall season on the R&N has been a stark contrast to years prior. With either a monstrous 4-8-4, or a 4 pack of magnificent black and white diesels, the R&N has something for every Railfan. On October 9th, for the first time on a fall Foliage train, former Norfolk Southern F9A 270 and F7B 275 led the 12 car foliage train solo. At Port Clinton the B unit shut down and refused to restart thanks to a faulty fuel injector pump, so F9A 270 is seen here dragging the B unit and all 12 cars southbound at Pulpit, and putting on quite the show in the process!
