Typical S-Curve

PAS/NS 23K hauls absolute ASS past the infamous S-Curve in Shirley, MA. Originating in Ayer, Pan Am Southern is the corporation this train runs under while on Pan Am Railways (PAR) territory. It’s symbol will then be switched to NS 23K from PAS 23K once reaching Mechanicville NY, where PAR territory turns into NS. This train makes quite the trek, as it terminates in Chicago, IL.

Leading the train is a rebuilt SD60E locomotive, exclusively built for Norfolk Southern. Due to the installation to PTC and ACSES equipment on all of MBTA territory, Norfolk Southern has sent locomotives down that are PTC and ACSES equipped, which are mostly if not all SD60E's. Until more NS locomotives get these additional safety systems installed, SD60E's will be leading 22K and 23K for the time being.
