Il Duomo

Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. The grounds on which the cathedral was built upon was an ancient roman burial ground just outside of the ancient city walls of the colony. The construction of the cathedral itself was started in 1296, but wasn't actually completed until 1436, with the Dome being designed by Brunelleschi.
