Pair of Classics

Based on the SD75I leader and tri-light signal, this very well could be a picture from 10-15 years ago but nope, it is indeed the year 2024. Here, CN 5701 cruises westbound on the ol' Grand Trunk main into the setting October sun. I ended up being a bit late to the fall colors as many of the leaves had already fallen, and dark oranges and browns were taking place of the vibrant yellows and reds. Regardless, I'm always glad to see a 75I as its my favorite freight diesel, and the SD75ACC rebuilds are gonna be a pleasant extension of their career.

Throughout the mid to late 2010s, CN went about replacing the old GTW-era Tri-light and Searchlight style signals with modern "Vader" designs. However, at Milepost 327.2, they kept the Tri-light head design but now included LEDs. Certainly a peculiar anomaly. Another anomaly was the weather as it was nearly 80 degrees when I took this picture.
