The country saying, “If the oak is before the ash, then we’ll only get a splash, if the ash is before the oak, then we’re sure to get a soak”, refers to which tree gets their leaves first, as a prediction of how much rain we can anticipate during the summer. Most years they tend to be neck and neck, but this year the oak seems generally to be the winner, time will tell!
