First Snow of 2009-2010 Winter

We had our first snow of the the upcoming winter season. We had our first frost the night before so things have cooled down quickly. Notice the leaves haven't changed color and they are dropping fast. I am afraid we are not going to get the beautiful fall colors this year. The forecast has 70% chance of snow on Sunday night with 50% chance on Monday. Farmers still have over 70% of sugar beets in the ground. Soybeans, sunflowers, and corn - 100% still in the field. About 50 % of the potatoes have not been dug. This could be a catastrophic year for our local farmers. They did get a very good wheat harvest.
