Cathedral ceiling

The ceiling of the cathedral is painted a pale blue. The portion of the ceiling over the sanctuary also has gold-leaf stars in the span of blue. The stars are arranged according to the constellation that would have been seen in the night sky of April 22, 1883, when the first bishop of the new diocese of Grand Rapids, Henry Joseph Richter of Cincinnati, was consecrated in Saint Andrew.
