Concentration
by emilykrakora
The central idea of my concentration is investigating unique forms through macro pictures of everyday objects. I want to be able to photograph these objects so that viewers can have a new viewpoint.
As you look through my pictures, you can easily see that they evolve by creating more and more interesting perspectives on the everyday objects. In pictures 9 and 11, movement is shown as they move the viewer’s eye through the image. Movement was essential in my photos since they help to take you deeper into a photo and to help you understand what object you are viewing. Rhythm, shown in pictures 2, 11, and 12, is also essential in my concentration. By creating positive and negative spaces in the pictures, the rhythm helps make the subjects more interesting and unique. As I continued my investigation throughout the year, I started capturing the everyday objects in more interesting ways. I then turned my goal into photographing my subjects so that it would take the viewer a second or two to realize what they were viewing. I used different types of lighting, like backlighting the objects or fading the light through the picture, to helps to create the viewpoints. Overall, I feel that my concentration engages viewers in new perspectives of everyday objects.
