Peak Pyrotechnics...

..in more ways than one...!!

aka THE LOST FILES.

In November 2015 I took a series of photographs on a spectacular morning out in the Peak District. One of them was shortlisted in the 2015 Outdoor Photographer of the Year competition and was published in the book of the same year.

A few months later the copyright of the same image was purchased by VisitBritain (official tourist board) along with another of my photographs of the Great Ridge.

A different image which I still sell on my website was shortlisted in the 2021 British Photography Awards, the final results of which are still to be decided, but imminent.

In 2018 I had a hard drive failure and on that drive were the raw files from the morning along with 60,000 others totalling 1.7TB. Since then I have been managing with jpegs as the cost of retrieval was proving too high.

Finally however, a few weeks ago I bit the bullet (after several aborted attempts) and the damaged drive was sent to DataQuest in Portsmouth. A couple of weeks later (and an investment of around £550) a new drive drive was returned to me with virtually every file intact and ready to import to Lightroom which I did yesterday.

Searching through the images from that November morning again I came across another different composition which, for some reason, I had ignored for 5.5 long years???? Why???

Anyway, here it is, having never been seen before (including me apparently!) and presented humbly to anyone who cares to look. I hope you like it.

Another BIG lesson learned
