Standing Tall
We promised our grandchildren a glamping trip at Port Lympne Wildlife Park where I took this photo. This is a Silverback gorilla called Ambam who likes to walk like a human. Although he has become something of an internet sensation, apparently the ability to walk on hind legs runs in the family - Ambam’s father Bitam used to display the same behaviour if he had handfuls of food to carry, and Ambam’s sister, Tamba, and a half sister also sometimes stand and walk in the same way.

Ambam was born at Port Lympne’s sister park, Howletts, in 1990. Both parks are dedicated to protecting rare species and are managed by an international conservation charity called The Aspinall Foundation.
