HISTORY

Pillar completed 8th September 1947 costing £5.11s.6d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NZ42/14 within the Middlesborough block during 1948. Levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in December 1958. Last maintained by the OS in October 1986.

 

SITE VISIT

Approached from SE. Parked by resr at NZ465336. Followed mapped RoW to NZ465342 then west up field boundary to trig. Corner of arable fields. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre open. Flush bracket faces northwest, compass reading 302°. All four sight holes plugged. 360° open outlook with spectacular view of the Teeside oil refinery stacks.
