Sequoia National Park: The famous General Sherman tree
This is said to be the largest living tree. Its circumference at ground level is 31.3 meters (102.6 feet) and its current height is 83.8 meters (275 feet). It is estimated to weigh over 1,900 tons.
Sequoias are believed to grow only on the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada range in California and by girth are the largest of all trees. They can live to over 3,000 years. Hopefully, this specimen may be protected from global warming and the wildfires
The famous Redwoods are more slender but reach greater heights, up to 379 feet. They are found on the coast of Northern California, principally in the Redwood National Park
