My previous photo TRNP Stars was the practice session for this photo. This was actually the second night for this composition, the first night didn't turn out as well as I would have liked. On this particular morning, I got up at 1 AM and drove an hour to this spot. When I was setting up my camera, I was asking myself why I was out here, the temperature was below freezing and the wind was gusting 30+ mph. I decided that I was here and might as well take a couple of shots.
I set up a light panel on a tripod and then made the final adjustments to the camera. When I was ready to start, my light was gone, the wind had knocked over the tripod with the light panel. I found the light panel in several pieces which I reassembled and amazingly, it still worked. After adding my camera bag to the tripod I was ready to try again. I placed one hand on the camera tripod to act as a dampener to help muffle any vibrations from the gusty winds. I spent the next two hours taking photos which turned out fairly well.
The thin clouds magnified the light pollution, not totally unpleasing though. The light pollution on the left was most likely from the numerous oil wells flaring gas, and the light pollution on the right was from the towns along I-94.
I would like to thank everyone for the support, views, faves and comments !!
Have a good weekend !
