Mandarin Drake
The mandarin duck (Aix galericulata) is a perching duck species found in East Asia. Specimens frequently escape from collections, and in the 20th century a large feral population was established in Great Britain where there are now around 7000.
This bird was seen on Whitenights Lake, part of the University of Reading campus and tried to claim some bread left by students but was warned off by bigger birds.
