Winter Quarrenden

This luscious-looking apple is a variety local to Nottinghamshire, one of a few local ones recently planted.

 

Hard to believe it won't be ripe until October and should keep to December, perhaps the single fruit on an as-yet tiny tree is liable to ripen early...

 

Said to have been propagated by Pearson's Nursery of Chilwell and listed in an 1896 catalogue.
