On Top of the World - 2
The Maerdy Mountain road links Aberdare in the Cynon Valley and Maerdy at the top of the Rhondda Fach, and is home to Stagecoach in South Wales Services 172/72 (Aberdare-Rhondda Valleys-Bridgend-Porthcawl).
In 2012, this was still the preserve of Aberdare depot's six surviving Alexander PS-bodied Volvo B10Ms, though these were replaced in October of that year by relatively new Alexander Dennis Enviro300-bodied Scanias.
At just about the highest point, 20389 is seen heading for Porthcawl in this September 2012 shot.
Withdrawn from service in January 2015, she passed to Ensignbus, who in turn sold her on to Richardsons Travel of Midhurst, West Sussex.
Wonderful Machines.
