Emperor Moth (Saturnia pavonia).

Male.

Seaford.

When I was a lad, a long time ago, I always thought that the Emperor Moth was only found on heathland. I then started to find their larva on the downland near to where I live. Eventually I found an adult moth in the area I regularly walk and it has become clear recently that the moth is quite common here despite it being very rarely seen.

Worth viewing large to see the antannae.
