Wasteland
Taken at Orford-Ness lighthouse situated in Suffolk.
Orford-Ness island can only be accessed by boat. It is now a derelict location that was once used to test weapons in world war 2 and the cold war era, it was also home to the atomic weapons research establishment and was heavily involved in radar.
The island is now a nature conservation, run by the national trust, home to birds and other wildlife. Split by shingle and marshes you really get a sense of abandonment with torn down buildings, old ruins and lumps of metal junk littering the area.
The lighthouse itself sits only meters away from the north sea coast now and unfortunately it is only a matter of time before that structure becomes a piece of history itself as the sea slowly eats away at the shore.
This was my second visit here and i really like the place although you are limited to shooting in the daylight hours.
