Ponte Morandi con Tigre

 

I love Italy, Liguria, Genova and the Italian Railways !

 

So I spent twice a week at the tracks of Cinque Terre, Genova and the Giovi lines. Where I was of course also fascinated by the Morandi bridge, spanning radically and wild high across apartment buildings, freight yard tracks, industry areas and the Polcevera river valley ...

 

So, at one of my train trips from Genova Sampierdarena to Mignanego I hoped to maybe catch an Italian locomotive with the Morandi bridge from the coach window and I really got it with this "Tiger" class E652 ... and with the exact pylon and part of the bridge, that collapsed so tragically on Aug. 14th 2018 ...

 

So, deeply moved by this disaster my condolence is with the victims and especially also with the hundreds of homeless people who were suddenly forced to leave their homes in the lost houses under the wrecked bridge without any hope of return ...
