32000 piece puzzle, 'New York City Window', Ravensburger, 2014
I couldn't find any detailed pics of this puzzle on the web, so I decided to go ahead and order the puzzle and see it up close. The puzzle comes in 8 bags of 4000 pieces. Looking through the bags, I was pleased to see that the pieces are not pixelized and the resolution is high, even at the piece level. The image is a photo taken by Lois Lammerhuber from the 61st floor of the Rockefeller Center. I personally would have preferred a straight up dirty photo. This photo seems to have been filtered or processed such that it almost looks like a painting. From the poster it looks like there may be (at least the shapes of) people and cars visible on the street. I can make out the rungs of ladders on one of the roofs. So time to pick a bag and give it a try.
