Photo#4

Objective 3: Elements and Principles of Design

The elements of design demonstrated (describe the use):

Shape: It’s pretty interesting how a human that’s still rather than an object that’s still just totally makes a difference. Having all the curves brings more interest in this photo which also is able to draw the person to look at her rather than the empty space which is definitely what I wanted to happen.

Objective 4: Lighting

Type of lighting and why:

I used soft lighting rather than hard because with hard lighting you lose most of the picture from white spots and so that I could get more detail in the skin and face. I used side and frontal lighting so that it wouldn’t be dark but the sides have a more of a distinct outline.

Objective 7: Photographic Styles (ex. portrait, landscape, etc.) – Explain why the settings and composition are appropriate for the style of photography. (How did you create the shot?)

Portrait Photography

I used M so that I was able to change the shutter speed.

F stop used: 5.6 so that it would coincide with the aperture in the photo.

Shutter speed used: 1/60 so that it would take the photo clearly more clearly because it wasn’t moving to I went down.

ISO used: 400 because I wanted to brighten up the picture a bit because it wasn’t too bright in the studio.

Exposure compensation: 1.35 I used it because the camera auto corrected the exposure compensation to it.

Focal length: 42mm so I could get her whole body in the picture which could have changed the photo.
