New Year Aurora Panorama
This panoramic image holds a special place in my heart. It was taken on the 1st of January, just after a cozy New Year's Eve dinner. Fueled by excitement and a bit of post-celebration energy, we ventured out into the cold Norwegian night, hoping to catch a glimpse of the elusive northern lights.
This particular shot is a panorama stitched together from 9 vertical shots. I have to give credit to my friend, who helped me out since ON1, my go-to editing software, struggles with complex stitching. He worked his magic in Lightroom, sent me the DNG, and I took over the editing in ON1 to bring out the colors and details.
This night was magical, and I’ve already shared a few photos from it, but this panorama captures the vastness and beauty of the moment in a way that single shots couldn’t. The faint glow of the aurora, the snow-covered landscape, and the quiet stillness of the night made it an unforgettable start to the new year.
