Sky's New Friend, Barnaby

Sky and his new friend sat on the sofa and were chatting when Posh Bear sat down beside them.

“Hi Posh; this is my new friend called Barnaby.”

“Hello Sky and hello Barnaby; it is nice to meet you.” Said Posh.

“I was explaining to Barnaby that the man likes to use that three-legged thingy to take pictures of us bears. He hasn’t done it recently so this could take ages as he has probably forgotten how to do it.”

“Very true Sky. Where is Bertie?”

“He is making space for the honey delivery, so he hid when the man was looking for us bears. I had to order extra as we have another bear to feed.”

“Good thinking, Sky. How are you enjoying living here, Barnaby?”

“It is nice; I like having lots of friends around me and Sky has been introducing me to lots of other bears and other animals. Sky told me that you were very clever and you can count to more then five. I was so impressed.”

“Thank you, Barnaby, I think I saw you arrive in a Christmas parcel and the man seemed quite pleased when he saw you.”

“I like to think so. I’ve been in the living room with Paws the lioness, Scoobs the brown dog, Spot the black dog and a black panther called Cadbury. They have made me feel very welcome. Sadly, they don’t eat honey but they kindly introduced me to my new friend Sky and he gave me a whole jar yesterday and another whole jar today. Wasn’t that kind of him?”

“Indeed, it was, well done Sky. I didn’t know you had spare honey.” Said Posh Bear suspecting Sky’s kindness of giving away his own honey.

“Thank you Posh, one has to do what one can for a new friend. I know that if you had met Barnaby before me Posh, you would have given him some of your honey.”

“Of course, I couldn’t see any bear go hungry when I had plenty.”

“Good, that is what I thought you would say. So, after the man has finished here, my new friend and I are getting a touch peckish and were just wondering if you might have the odd jar or several, you could let us have until ours arrives?”

“Have you none left then Sky?”

“Nope, all gone. We had the last for breakfast.”

“Okay, you can have a jar each. Take one for Bertie as well as I doubt he’ll have any left.”

“You’re right as usual Posh, Bertie hasn’t got anything left at all. I’ll tell him that you gave him a jar as soon as I see him.”

“Sky, I’m slightly confused for I’m sure you said that the honey we had you were borrowing from someone and I thought you said it was Bertie.” Said Barnaby rubbing his head with his paw.

“No, Barnaby, that was my honey.”

“I know it belonged to you, but only because you said you had borrowed it in the first place and he wouldn’t mind. Come to think of it, Sky, didn’t you borrow some honey for Posh as well? I’m sure you did.”

Sky looked at Posh who stared right back at him and then he smiled.

“Best you get going, Sky, don’t forget to replace what you borrowed to Bertie as I have plenty.”

“Thank you Posh… and thanks a lot Barnaby.” Said Sky as the two walked away as the man finished taking the photograph.
