aerial69: Just a little Background on this Image. This is my Daughter who was home last year during our 4th of July Independence Celebration. At the time her Husband was deployed to Afghanistan. I had just had another son-in-law return from there just prior. My husband had Retired from the Fire Department after 32 years of Service. So this image for me Represents many different things! Maybe not the "Freedom" that you are referring to but in my mind this Image is indeed a "Symbol of Freedom". As Kevin said we are all entitled to our own opinions whether we agree or not. I Appreciate that you think it is a cool image & Thank~you for saying so. Respectfully~Deb @mister1tea @kevinkuster

mister1tea: see the Stars and Stripes as a sacred thing. The point I was trying to make to @kevinkuster is that when two images of the flag appear on a "freedom" themed forum, the rest of the world might question the choice. As a matter of interest, do any other flags symbolise freedom for US citizens?

 

mister1tea: For Americans this flag is synonymous with freedom and when I was a kid it was the same here. We all wanted to be Americans...I just think that the world has started to look at America differently. I hope I didn't cause any offence @kevinkuster and @aerial69

 

mister1tea: I feel sorry for all those who have to serve overseas...it would be nice to imagine a future where young soldiers from the States don't have to make the sacrifice. @kevinkuster @aerial69
