Trillius Arms SA-45
.45 caliber race gun, modified to survive the rigors of combat.
A highly customizable sidearm developed by a Canadian company by the name of Trillius Armaments Limited.
Inspired by the old Inglis Hi-Power design, this pistol was initially chambered for a special .22 round, designated the SA-22, built solely for recreational and competition shooting.
However, the Canadian Army sought a newer, high capacity sidearm to replace the old Sig Sauer P226 that was in service 3 years prior to its introduction. Celia Kusanagi, one of the designers at Trillius, responded with the SA-45, an up-scaled version of the SA-22.
With a superior magazine capacity to 9mm sidearms and chambered for the larger .45 caliber round, this weapon was quickly adopted by the Canadian Army two years after its introduction, with at least 50000 units purchased.
It features a two piece slide, with the front slide with port holes to accommodate ported barrels usually seen on the AF-45 fully automatic models. The SA-45 also takes advantage of newer materials, lessening weight and costs. The grip plates can also be mixed and matched to suit the user's preferences - the side plates can be replaced with a special stock, while the front plate with finger grooves can be replaced with a flat grip plate.
It also became a fast favorite for home defense and police use, especially the SA-45 Short, due to its compact size, which is perfect for concealed carry.
In addition to different variants, the SA series were also offered in different chamberings, such as 9mm, .32 ACP, .357 Magnum, .380 ACP, .40 S&W, .44 Magnum, .50 Action Express, and 5.7mm. These were designated the SA-9, SA-32, SA-357, SA-380, SA-40, SA-44, SA-50, and SA-57 respectively. Other chamberings not listed here are also available on request.
Aside from the different caliber variations, there were some models built to fire in three-round bursts and even full-auto, designated the TS and AF series respectively. Aftermarket MC tactical chassis kits were also sold after the TS and AF's introduction, and is fully compatible with its existing accessories.
Lastly, the decals' color can be customized to order, but most retail models only feature light blue.
