The two Kens
I always assumed that the Mod-era Kens were all alike, but as the case with Barbie and all her friends, how wrong I was! My 1972 Walk Lively Ken arrived today (so now I have Walk Lively Barbie, Steffie, and Ken... not to mention my OOAK Walk Lively Stacey!) ... and I was struck by how different he was to my Mexico 'Bendable Leg' Ken from 1970.
He seems a little shorter and more compact, with a much shiner (as is the case with all the WLs) less defined torso and facial features ... but he seems to have a much better stance. His head is also smaller and slightly darker (shrinking and darkening are common conditions that most 1972 doll heads get) and he has completely different colouring, especially his yellow, paler lips and much darker hair and eyebrows. I still think he's kinda groovy and Walk Lively Barbie AND Steffie already have their eyes on him! Brad is also on his way, too :)
