The secret card game - toy style.

The question hung in the air, a playful dare to the imagination. Do you ever catch a glimpse of the impossible, a flicker in the corner of your eye when the room is empty? Do you ever wonder what silent dramas unfold when the lights are off, the house hushed? I do. I imagine the stoic plastic heroes, lego folk and dolls, freed from the tyranny of play, descend into the hidden heart of the house. I picture them, bathed in the clandestine glow of a stolen flashlight, a poker den carved out of our own stuff, where the dust bunnies hoard the lost shrapnel of our lives. Miniature lego men, nervously stack piles of pennies, while a triad doll, her perfectly coiffed hair slightly askew, coolly raises the stakes with a glittering sequin torn from a discarded dress. The air is thick with the smell of static electricity and the quiet rustle of stolen real life loose money. Yes, I'm convinced. My action figures have a secret life, a clandestine world built on missing change and the hushed whispers of the night.
