Every Friday at noon, the San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission teams up with the Living Praise Christian Center to serve hot meals to the homeless and those in need. The San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission started in 1998 serving meals to the Valley's homeless. The S.O.S events continue to serve thousands at eight locations every week. The Living Praise Christian Center, located in Chatsworth opens their doors for games and prayer time before lunch and the has a shower truck from the SFVRM operating. Each lunch begins with an opening short sermon or testimony and prayers and blessings of the meal. Some people give testimonies on former drug abuse problems and how they overcame them through reaching out to Jesus and positive people willing to help them fight addiction. Church member, Kesha helps out with serving and getting to know and help everyone in attendance. She works at LPCC and has been involved with the SFVRM for years. Health care counseling is offered and a support system that people need. There is also a corner where guests can come and pick up any donated clothing for free if needed. There are many people who come every Friday and become friends and establish close relationships with the staff for moral support. Kim is a regular attendee and collects bottles and cans for gas money and food. She also saves extra and leftover food which she hands out to her friends on the street after. Mike has given his life to Jesus after coming to the church more often and meeting such helpful and positive people in his life. Most people know of all the church sponsored events going on in the valley so they can receive warm meals. This operation is a loving and selfless driven place that aims to help people that need it most and build a family in the process.
