2020 Sydney: Dry Centennial Parklands

Centennial Park is a large public, beautiful, urban park that occupies 189 hectares in Sydney, Australia.

It supports a wide variety of wildlife that make their home in the park or use it frequently. Including pelicans, black swans, mallard ducks, Australian white ibis, cockatoo, white ducks, purple swamphens, common moorhens, geese, turtles and eels.

And, of course, it is a much needed and loved haven for humans also.

Look closely at these photos - many of the beautiful lakes have very little water, some are totally dry.

That is bare, dry, cracked earth - not water - in the lake areas.

Drought is real - even in urban spaces.
