ACE Midday Run Inaugural Special - Friday, August 25, 2006.
ACE (Altamont Commuter Express), in partnership with Caltrans/Amtrak California, began a midday round-trip train between Stockton and San Jose on Monday, August 28, 2006. Amtrak San Joaquin Train 711 connected to this train in Stockton (after a short bus ride between the stations in Stockton) and the return ACE run to Stockton connected to Amtrak San Joaquin Train 715 (again, after a short bus ride between the 2 Stockton stations).
On Friday, August 25, a special run of this new train was made for dignitaries, VIP's, railroad officials, etc. Unfortunately, despite all the enthusiasm, pomp and ceremony, this train was discontinued in November 2009.
This photo shows the special plaque/logo created for the event.
