Northern Cardinal juvenile by Jackie B. Elmore 8-16-2019 Lincoln Co. KY

This juvenile apparently has Avian Pox. It’s parents, feeding it, look fine. If you look up Avian Pox, it appears to be quite common, most birds can survive the dry type.

Avian pox can be caused by several strains of the pox virus and has been reported in at least 60 species of birds, including turkeys, hawks, owls, and sparrows.
