Walking Finale V1

Here is a short video which shows an animated walk cycle, with a side prospective & front view. It clearly shows the actions of the character as he walks along with the coordinated and synchronized movement of his arms and legs. I included this synchronized movement after observing numerous people walking around. I came to the conclusion that most people subconsciously use this action to help propel themselves along at a greater speed.

With the hands I have incorporated some movement around the wrist area as they are propelled up and down. The fingers are also shown curled into the palm of the hands as is normal with most people when they are walking.

I chose the right leg as the leading one as being right footed I always tend to set off with this leg. I incorporated the appropriate movement around the knee flexing the leg in line with how I studied and observed a number of people walking about. Appropriate movement was added to the feet with the heel landing first on the leading leg making first contact to the ground and the toes leaving the ground last on the recoil action with the trailing leg.

I have also tried to incorporate the appropriate movement of the torso to provide added realism into the animation. I have synchronized the movement of the cranium so that it is coordinated with the torso, dipping down as the torso leans forward with the passing motion of each stride.

The eyes have been made to react to the movement of the body as the character goes through its high & low points as it walks along, rising and falling as he strides along on his journey.
