Nolan Gregory
Canton, Ohio
ABC Railway Switcher No. 1502, along with Wheeling GP35 No. 112, was the power for yesterdays 262 train on the Wheeling from Akron to Brewster. They are seen here advancing under US-62 toward Wandle, after getting a signal from NS’s Pennsy Dispatcher to cross the diamond with the Fort Wayne Line in downtown Canton.
The ABC is a subsidiary of the Wheeling which handles a lot of the switching ops around Barberton and all the way out to Rittman, utilizing the former Erie main. Since DME 4005 arrived on the property and was painted and assigned to work on the ABC, these SW1500s have been much harder to photograph. But for whatever reason, this thing was placed on the point for its trip down to Brewster for routine maintenance, which made for a good opportunity for a few local fans to get out of the house and enjoy the weather.
