'Slow Mail' combines the dual frontiers of California: the romantic western, pre-railroad era and the pioneering early days of the internet (originally called ARPANET). Pack-train relays composed of trail riders and packhorses will deliver physical letters from Menlo Park to Los Angeles, the points between which the first message was sent over ARPANET.
** Pilot Ride: September 12–15th, 2012 **
Riders cover the first leg of the Slow Mail trails, leaving from Menlo Park on September 12th and arriving in downtown San Jose on September 15th. On their arrival in San Jose, the letters will be distributed as part of a 'Mail Call' event hosted by the ZERO1 Biennial.
