This photo presentation is a project of the Flossmoor Public Library. The library is dedicated to preserving and sharing images and documents related to the history of Flossmoor, IL.
Flossmoor's first white settlers arrived in the early 1830s, but the area remained rural for several decades. Around the turn of the 20th Century, the introduction of the Homewood Country Club (now Flossmoor Country Club, or FCC) and a new train station on the Illinois Central Railroad main line set the stage for residential and commercial growth. The village was incorporated in 1924 and celebrated our centennial in 2024.
Visit the library's Local History Page for several articles about the history of Flossmoor.
Our photographic collection is organized by era, but users are encouraged to search via tags such as "Downtown," Schools," "Golf," etc. You can see our entire list of tags here.
We need your help! We have created a special tag called "Unidentified" to tag photographs of buildings or people we have not been able to positively ID. We encourage users to comment on these photos if they believe they can identify them.
