David De Valera exemplifies a new generation of Irish DJs. Operating in the same house / techno milieu as his international peers, De Valera shows that there’s more to the Irish electronic music scene than many people appreciate.

De Valera set his own agenda ever since his days playing the infamous Temple Theatre. He follows his natural musical instinct behind the decks and in the studio. In 2008, following 8 years working nationally and internationally, more people are beginning to take note of De Valera than ever.

One glance at his recent bookings suggests as much. His name dominates amongst Dublin’s finest nights, including a residency at Wax and his own night Zoology.

Zoology has been a showcase for demonstrating the ability to run an exciting and successful club-night with every detail, from PR, promotion to A & R, overseen by De Valera and his team.

It is this attention to detail that has caused a stir, with Zoology currently earning a reputation as the edgiest and most exciting night on offer in the capital. Artists such as Phil Long, Phuture Phunk, Kid Handsome and Brian Taafe and Matador have played alongside De Valera to resounding success.

David De Valera has been working hard in the studio for the past 12 months with releases getting support from techno acts Adam Beyer and Fergie.

Armed with his experience and understanding of the Irish electronic music scene De Valera is ambitiously taking over. His work as DJ and artist in the studio is prodigious. The summer has been spent working the world’s finest clubs and festivals including Mauro Picotto’s infamous Techno night Meganite and the Planet Love festival’s 10th Birthday.

David De Valera has now set his sights on a new project. DOWNLOAD – his residency in the Pod is about to kick off. Pod has long been regarded as Dublin’s stable for the best underground music Ireland has to offer. With guests including Marco Carola and Carl Craig, De Valera is set to take on the Dublin electronic music scene like never before.
