Barbara J. McKee lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she is a freelance writer, playwright, and public speaker on disability and civil rights issues. She is a featured columnist for the former Albuquerque Tribune, discussing the legitimacy, issues and existence of the disabled culture. Her articles have appeared on the Scripps-Howard national wire service, and in several prominent newspapers such as the Detroit Free Press. Her poetry book, "Trilogy of One and other poems" published in 2001, is an eclectic collection of her thoughts and experiences of life before and after her entrance into the disabled culture in 1975. She is a student of the University of New Mexico, working towards a Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing.
