At the start of the art foundation course at Leeds College of Art, I gained valuable experience working with open-ended briefs. I was taught to think in different ways and work with new materials. This helped my research skills, my understanding and the way in which I develop experimental ideas. I discovered on the foundation course that the textures and patterns created from experimenting and manipulating mundane materials and fabrics excite me more then the structure of the garment itself. I now believe a BA in Textiles for Fashion is the right route for me as this combines the two areas I’m interested in exploring and researching, especially the nature of current textile-design practices in the fashion industry.
