The main purpose of “Buildings of Johnson County” is to share my photographs of structures I find interesting in Johnson County, KS. They may be under construction, in use, vacant, in decline, or in the process of demolition. This is not a group page, so you won't be able to share photos on it. Occasionally, I will post photos not related to buildings but of things I encounter during my travels of the Kansas City suburb I’ve called home since 1980. I am an amateur photographer who does this as a hobby. I still have much to learn, but I do try to share decent quality images. Not all of them will have the quality I like, but I hope what they depict will overcome that. My main camera is a Canon Rebel XSi DSLR 12.2 MP. If I don’t have that with me I’ll use what I have available, which is usually a point and shoot pocket camera or cell phone.

So, if you live in the area and see a balding fat guy cussing at his camera while taking a picture of a building you couldn’t care less about….that’s probably me. If you see some irate woman beating the hell out of me with an umbrella, no need to intervene. That’s just my wife reminding me to pick up the pace. Through these…conversations…I’ve learned not to get out of the car and take pictures right before breakfast or dinner. I’ve found it’s much easier to see through a camera viewfinder when my eyes aren’t swollen shut. Anyway, I hope you enjoy!
